Scratch Ankle Heritage Festival is a unique event with a long history in Milton. Local lore tells us Milton was known by our first settlers as “Scratch Ankle”. As early settlers would disembark to trade and barter their goods, their ankles would literally be “scratched” by the briars along the banks of the Blackwater River… Thus the name “Scratch Ankle”.
The festival began in the 70’s by students from Milton High School as a Heritage Festival, the tradition remains. Main Street Milton has adopted this two-day event as an opportunity for non-profit and community groups to come together to celebrate our heritage.
Scratch Ankle Festival is the place to meet neighbors that you haven’t seen in a while and to enjoy a family friendly event that brings together people from all walks of life. It’s the music, the local vendors and the ambiance of a small town festival that make Scratch Ankle so unique. Join us the LAST Weekend of each APRIL to celebrate our history, our community and the Berry Bake-Off contest!
